Outdoor Programs for Women

Winter Break Ninja CampWomen and Nature

In our journey as women we are called to duty to deliver our strength and empathy to ourselves, our children, our friends and society. Many of us bring in money to support the family, others are able to stay home and care for their dear children, and yet many women also travel and work long hours to get basic needs in which they and their families require. This is the way of life for us and we do not question what it means to get up and do the work required. We are women, and we just do it.

In living day to day, have you ever imagined a world where you could climb trees, follow the tracks of a wild animal, tell stories by the campfire, or make a fire with a bow drill? Have you thought about talking a walk into the woods with no objective or care in the world?

Wimmin's Weekend Village

We invite you to spend the weekend in the forest, acquainting yourself with other like-minded women and in a place where you can learn new skills that will impress your partners or give you a boost of confidence or awareness that might set you up for your next encounter with adventure.

We provide weekends of fun for ladies. We do all the work-bring the food, cook, and give you some options to learn more about each other, yourself and the natural world. We track, hike, gather and simply wander. We make fire, tell stories and play games. We become a community of women that dig the out of doors. You make your own survival kit, learn the essentials of camping and hiking, and follow the language of the forest through the eyes of wildlife, the lens of water, and composition of soil.

You begin the weekend with an introduction to wilderness survival and make your own kits. The following day you increase your sensory awareness, wander the land, search for wildlife tracks and sign, discover the lore of plants and trees, practice mental mapping, and tell stories by the campfire. You become a self-sufficient outdoor woman who is able to read the landscape in a whole new way. We look forward to learning new stories of the land and being kids again. Our base camp is set 20 minutes from Sandy, one ridge beyond the Bull Run Watershed. Come explore the wilds and sleep under the stars.
