Bow or blade? Choose what tool you craft during an unforgettable camp of wilderness ways and skill.

The Bow You are the archer and bowyer. Learn the art of woodworking. Tiller a stave until you create the perfect bent stick. Shape an ancient tool that launches an an arrow by steady arm and keen aim.

The Blade Forge your blade with fire, hammer and anvil. Practice the art of blacksmithing as you learn tapers, splits, twists and even how to punch holes in hot metal. Finally, craft your first knife on the long road to mastering the basics of the art.

Beyond bow or blade, we delve into an ancient world of wisdom and knowledge through hands-on activities in wilderness survival and the core studies of a Ranger...

Animal Tracking Learn to trail any animal, human or beast across any terrain.
Wilderness Survival Survive in any environment while finding shelter, water, fire and food.
The Curriculum of Shadows Train the art of camouflage and discover an invisible world hidden in the forest.

Also, cultivate what is referred to as the Indomitable Spirit, a critical survival awareness. The Indomitable Spirit is about listening, learning and faith in your own capacity to act as a force of great care for the land and people around you. All this plus fishing, options test yourself with rugged camping and much more!

This camp takes place at Marmot Cabin and Camp Trackers in the historic Marmot Valley. Trackers Earth Portland is proud to partner with the Audubon Society of Portland.

Prepping Your Camper

This program is meant to be taken with regard and respect. We insist on focus, determination and intelligent accountability, especially while working with tools and training challenging skills. Every aspect of training in this program is considered a privilege. We insist that students treat it as such for their benefit and to the value of their learning community. This now said, our camps have and always will be infused with the most vital traits of good humor, celebration and appreciation for each participant.

Food and Duties

In this camp our meals are sometimes cooked over a wood fired kitchen. All campers take part in every aspect and duty of our encampment: helping prepare meals and cleaning and caretaking for the land that hosts us.

Scholarships

We have scholarship awards available of up to 5%-25% of for families in need. Due to limited funds of awards we recommend you apply early to increase your family's chances of acceptance. Submit a scholarship application

Logistics

Drop-off and Pick-up Location Upper MaCleay Park In NW Portland near the Audubon Society of Portland.

Campsite Sandy, Oregon at Audubon's Marmot Cabin and Camp Trackers in the Marmot Valley. These beautiful are adjacent to one another and feature over 100-acres of woodlands, archery ranges, stocked fishing ponds and even an outdoor kitchen.

Coming from Out of State? Are you coming for out of state and staying for more than one week? We may be able to set you up with a host family. Contact Us to let us know your interest. There is an established administration fee for making these arrangements.

• epic base camp at Audubon's Marmot Cabin and Camp trackers near the Bull Run Wilderness
• make your own traditional wood bow or forged blade
• intensive archery training
• practice the arts of wilderness survival: shelter, water, fire and food
• learn to track and better understand the animals in the wild woods around us
• make great friends and have fun around the campfire
• fish for your dinner
• engage in live action stealth games with safe foam arrows
• become a Ranger

About Safety

Since 2004 Trackers has lead the way in standards of safety for outdoor camps and programs. All camp staff are CPR/First AID certified and have passed a thorough background check. We are very selective in our hiring process, choosing mature and competent individuals with profound experience in both education and skills instruction. Trackers is at the forefront of blending "old school" outdoor education with new and leading standards of safety, responsibility and personalized learning. All Camp Trackers and Audubon staff are of the most highly trained and experienced educators in the field, well versed in the industry leading Safety Standards. These are not your typical camp counselors that simply sing songs and run canned curriculum. We keep it even more real. Our counselors are experts at traditional crafts, cultural skills such as theater impov, wood fired cooking and most importantly, they posses a deft understanding of true and epic adventure.
