Our expert Trackers Mentors lead hands-on classes blacksmithing. Programs are designed to develop experience and independence in the craft.
Blacksmithing 101 - 4 hours total
Prerequisite: None - This class teaches the fundamentals of blacksmithing. Get hands-on experience at our forge, covering tool use, safety, technique, materials, and design. Start with simple projects like hooks or small tools to build skills and confidence. Perfect for beginners, this course lays a solid foundation for more complex techniques.
Blacksmithing 202 - 16 hours total
Prerequisite: Blacksmithing 101 - This class covers intermediate blacksmithing skills, building on Blacksmithing 101. Develop advanced techniques such as drawing out, bending, twisting, and punching metal. Work on projects like decorative elements and simple tools, refining skills, improving efficiency, and understanding material properties.
Blacksmithing Immersion - 35 hours total
Prerequisite: None - This 9-month course immerses students in blacksmithing, apprenticing with our expert blacksmith. Designed for those serious about mastering the craft, you receive comprehensive training in techniques from forging and welding to heat treating and finishing. Family Forge (Guardian & Youth) - 4 hours total
Prerequisite: None - This class offers families a unique opportunity to learn blacksmithing together. With no prior experience needed, both adults and youths get hands-on practice at the forge. It’s an engaging and educational way to bond while discovering the art of blacksmithing. 1 adult + 1 youth (Grade 5 & up) sharing an anvil. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Classes offered early spring (Feb-May).

5101 SE 17th Ave Portland, OR Classes take place at our private indoor blacksmithing shop called the Annex. This state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest teaching blacksmithing shops in Oregon. All materials, forge time, and instruction is provided.

Blacksmithing 101 4 hours total
This class takes place over 2 consecutive evenings (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM) or 1 weekend day (1:30 PM - 5:30 PM).
Blacksmithing 202 16 hours total
This class is offered once a seasonal term. It is made up of 8 weekly evenings from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
