Camp Nurse or EMT

Trackers seeks a registered nurse or EMT to serve as our residential medical staff for the summer 2020 camp season.

Trackers Earth offers award-winning summer camps. Our overnight residential camps are located in Sandy, OR. Ideal candidates for this position love working outside, love working with kids, and are interested in medically supporting program participants.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the health and safety of students and staff
  • Maintain facilities for dispensary and infirmary care
  • Administer current and appropriate first aid as needed
  • Administer all medications and treatments according to physician's order
  • Retain and dispense all medications to students and leaders in training (LITs) as prescribed
  • Teach and lead wilderness safety drills for campers and staff
  • Assess illness and accidents and determine appropriate treatment or referral to physicial or hospital
  • Make decisions on whether student should be sent home for medical reasons or remain at Trackers residential camps
  • Keep record of all drugs, medicines, and first-aid treatments in ledger
  • Collaborate with Residential Camp Director to file accident reports as needed
  • Compile special diet and food allergy information to share with kitchen staff
  • Make recommendations to Residential Camp Director and Summer Camp Director about improving health and safety practices
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and customers at all organizational levels
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Employment is June to August, with required staff training completed before the first week of the season.

Qualifications

  • RN or EMT, licensed to practice in the state of Oregon
  • Technical skills to meet emergencies
  • Good nursing judgement and common sense
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff, doctor and medical facility personnel, instructors, parents/guardians, and students themselves
  • Ability to thrive in a residential work environment, five or six days per week
  • Current CPR certification
Compensation...

  • Residential Nurse $925/week base rate + weekly bonus add-ons
  • Residential EMT $885/week base rate + weekly bonus add-ons
