Trackers Earth teaches traditional skills to youth and adults. All our efforts and profits go towards connecting people to nature and village.
The Range Master is responsible for growing and developing our Open Range program as well as overseeing our Open Archery Range—Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday during the day.
The Role - Range Master
We're looking for a part-time Range Master to manage our Open Archery Range and develop our community-based archery programs. 3-days a week: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.70% Open Range Management / 30% Outreach to the Archery Community, Program Development and Range Improvement. You will act as Trackers' primary contact and facilitator for archery program implementation, maintenance, and development.
Hours: 20 hours per week (approximately 13.5 hours teaching, 6.5 hours planning/community outreach). Additional hours often available on occasion for evening or weekend events.
Schedule: Thursdays 4:15 PM - 8:45 PM, Fridays 4:15 PM - 8:45 PM & Saturdays 10:45 AM - 3:15 PM
Where: Trackers Earth, SE PDX HQ (and other field locations for events)
Pay: $14.50 hourly
Job Requirements:
- At least two years of experience with Archery
- Must have experience teaching archery education or and/or other skills-based recreational courses.
- Considerable knowledge in archery skills, equipment, maintenance, range safety, local laws/regulations, and trends in archery
- Must be comfortable leading a group and talking with Parents.
- Must be capable of thoughtfully and patiently working with children and their families.
- Criminal Background check, as youth students are present.
Useful to the Role
- Experience or interest in the diverse disciplines of archery (going beyond Olympic target archery).
- Outreach and marketing background and/or connections with the archery community.
- Bonus Points for Trick Archery, Field Archery, Wilderness Skills, Archery History, etc.
Job Duties:
- Serve as Trackers' Range Master, enriching the archery culture and community at Trackers and beyond.
- Plan and implement community outreach for the range. Recruit public, private, and charter schools. Recruit local businesses and corporations based in Portland.
- Work with outside organizations to develop archery programs and events.
- Help organize archery range tournaments, demonstrations, events, and group activities.
- Facilitate a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment.
- Clean archery range before and after Open Range hours.
- Maintain archery program supplies, equipment and facilities. This includes routine maintenance, upkeep and general cleaning of program equipment/supplies.
