FreeSchool Year Open House
August 19, 2026 · Meet our team! Explore our After School, Preschool, Homeschool & Weekend Apprenticeships.
This is our one weekend-a-month Leader-in-Training (LIT) Apprenticeship.
Leader-in-Training (LIT) Apprenticeship
Become a Leader-in-Training (LIT). As you explore your chosen Trackers Guild, experienced Guides mentor you in outdoor leadership and community contribution. Select the Leader-in-Training (LIT) Apprenticeship that inspires you:
Train as a Shadow Ranger, developing tracking, stealth, awareness, and archery skills. Learn to guide and protect the village, focusing on safety through bushcraft and outdoor arts.
Explore waterways through fishing and boating. Learn expedition planning, equipment use, and safety protocols while learning to mentor younger Mariners.
Join the Wilders Leadership team to care for animals, cultivate gardens, and cook over the campfire. Build community and connection through shared meals and stewardship.
Become a Realms Leader-in-Training, creating stories and legends rooted in nature. Lead imaginative quests in the Realms world of elves, wizards, and adventure.
Experience all Trackers Guilds. Practice archery, wilderness survival, fishing, foraging, and lore under mentor guidance while learning to serve the next generation of Trackers.
Leadership Skills
Leader-in-Training (LIT) Apprentices step up within the Trackers community, learning through mentorship and hands-on practice. They connect with and inspire younger Trackers under supervision, passing on knowledge from one generation to the next. This blend of learning and leadership strengthens confidence and prepares them to guide others in the future.
Bonus Leader-in-Training (LIT) Summer Camps
Leader-in-Training (LIT) Apprentices receive four optional free weeks of Leader-in-Training Summer Day Camps with annual tuition.
Expectations
Leader-in-Training (LIT) Apprentices model respect, care, and curiosity in supervised settings. They demonstrate kindness, awareness, and responsibility as part of our code of care. Meeting these expectations supports success in the program and future opportunities. If expectations are not met, participation may be reassessed to ensure a positive and safe experience for all.
Our Team
Experienced Trackers Mentors lead this program. Each day, they help students build deeper connections with each other, their community, and nature.
- Expertise in mentoring and Trackers skills.
- Low student-to-guide ratio facilitating personal, team-based learning.
- Background checked with First Aid & CPR certification.
- Trained in outdoor safety and the Trackers Earth curriculum.
Our Place
We journey from Trackers HQ to wilderness locations by buses and vans with trained drivers. Our destinations include Trackers' private 351-acre wildlife park, our 100-acre farm and forest, other wilderness sites. When the weather calls for it, we might choose to stay closer to home, learning hands-on folk crafts in our art studios and visiting nearby nature parks.
How It Works
Apprenticeships meet one weekend a month from fall to spring for a total of 9 field days plus Graduation. Each gathering includes guided outdoor learning, team building, and leadership practice under staff supervision. Multiple schedule options are available to support family flexibility.
Returning Apprentices rejoin their group by selecting the schedule with their Fellowship name. New Apprentices may register for any available group within their age range.
