Learn wilderness survival skills while training with the experts of Trackers Earth. Experienced instructors guide you through hands-on activities in outdoor lore and ancients skills. Focusing on shelter, water, fire and food, this course helps you develop safety in the out of doors and a deeper connection with the natural world.

Year Long Intensive Series

Wilderness Survival Intensive
1 day a month in person + Evening Webninars/Fall to Spring

During this nine-month program led by Tom Brown III, develop the skills and principles needed to live in the wilderness.

Attend monthly in-person trainings the last Saturday of the month, September to May). Learn about and craft tools, as well as build experience in the wilderness. Students are also expected to spend time in the field outside of class practicing their skill-sets. This course also includes 1-hour Wednesday Evening webinars (5 PM - 6 PM) to prepare and add skills to our in-person practice—see below for schedule.

Tuition $50 deposit + 9 monthly payments of $100 (total $950).

Single Day Programs

Principles of Wilderness Survival 1 single day
Stay safe in the wilderness. With expert instructors, learn the priorities of basic survival: shelter, water, fire, and staying found. Tuition $49

Class of Fire! 1 single day
Learn the art and science of firemaking in the Pacific Northwest! From lighting a fire in any weather conditions to 80,000 years old art of the bow drill (no match fire). Tuition $49

Fire Woodworking: Bowls & Spoons 1 single day
Woodworking with fire! Learn to use fire to make wood containers buring with coals. Leave with your own hand-made wooden bowls and spoons. Tuition $49

Location

Classes are at our camp locations in Sandy, Oregon. Students are responsible for their own site transport.

Be sure you can make all or most of the weekends. Due to group size limits, we do not offer credits for absences.

In person field days are 9 AM - 4 PM the last Saturday of the month (exceptions are November/January, no field day in December).

  • Please bring the following items: water bottle, food, portable hand sanitizer and any items in packing list we email.

Covid 19 Related Information

  • All participants must were a cloth or disposable CDC-recommended face covering mask. Use fitted masks exclusively as these have been proven more effective.
  • Please take your temperature each day before attend and assess any Covid symptoms.
  • If covid symptoms are present, do not attend programming and contact us to record absence.
  • We organize class space to maximize social distance.
  • When transporting or indoors we keep everything well ventilated. Dress with warm layers to accommodate this.
