Blacksmithing Apprenticeship
Through our apprenticeships, expert Trackers Mentors guide youth and teens in learning at art studios. Our classes are designed for students from beginner to advanced levels. Thanks to our small class sizes, instructors can provide individual attention to each apprentice. Develop the following skills:
Tools & Shop Skills Learn to safely use a wide variety of blacksmith tools in our studio workshop. Develop responsibility and independence by caring for tools and keeping our shop tidy and organized.
Craftsmanship & Form Forge, split, twist, and punch hot metal to create art, crafts, and tools you can take home. Create edged tools such as knives and blades. Delve into physical and material sciences like metallurgy, thermodynamics, and more!
Art & Design Study design in three dimensions. Explore the basics of creating functional and expressive forms. Go beyond the basics to explore more complex forging techniques. Develop your personal style as an artisan.
Choose Your Program
We offer three Blacksmithing Apprenticeship options. Choose from the schedule below.
OPTION 1 - Grade 5-12 Blacksmith Apprenticeship Master the use of blacksmith tools in our workshop. Develop responsibility, independence, and shop skills.
OPTION 2 - Grade 6-12 Blades Apprenticeship (Knifemaking) Craft edged tools like knives and axes in our specialized program.
OPTION 3 - Grade 7-12 Metal Maker Apprenticeship Dive into advanced techniques and explore welding, smelting, and casting. Prereq: Blacksmith Apprenticeship
Our Team
Experienced Trackers Mentors lead this program, fostering creativity through hands-on crafts and projects.
- Expertise in mentoring and Trackers skills.
- Low student-to-guide ratio facilitating personal, team-based learning.
- Background checked with First Aid & CPR certification.
- Trained in program safety and the Trackers Earth curriculum.
Our Place
Our Studio Apprenticeships take place at our Trackers Art Studios where apprentices can explore hands-on arts and crafts. Our locations feature ceramics, photography, woodworking, and blacksmithing studios.
How It Works
Apprenticeships meet one weekend a month from fall to spring, totaling 9 studio days plus Graduation. To offer flexibility, we provide multiple schedule options—choose Morning (AM) or Afternoon (PM) classes.
AM Option 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
PM Option 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Tuition
Early Discount 2025
Register by May 23, 2025 to secure a 10% discount on all monthly payments.
Reserve your spot with a $45 deposit (non-refundable). Remaining tuition is split into ten monthly payments of $84 starting August 31.
Sibling Discount: Enroll two or more siblings for 5% off monthly payments.

For flexibility, we offer Saturday or Sunday options.
Make-Up Days: We understand plans change! Each Apprenticeship includes one make-up day per year. When space allows, your child can join another Fellowship. We also offer make-up days for weather-related postponements.
