Outdoor Skills Apprenticeship

Through our apprenticeships, expert Trackers Guides act as mentors to youth and teens learning in a small team of fellow Trackers. Kids share epic adventures while learning real farm craft skills:

Boating & Water Safety Navigate local rivers and lakes traveling by canoe or kayak. Learn to read the currents and get experience paddling and playing on the water. Practice essential water safety and rescue skills.

Climbing & Rescue Skills Learn the fundamentals of rock climbing technique and safety. Train in ropework and traversing over steep terrain. Practice Search and Rescue techniques for different conditions and scenarios.

Expeditionary & Backcountry Skills Journey to epic outdoor locations, exploring our local greenspaces. Learn the fundamentals of outdoor safety, awareness, and first aid. Pack and care for essential gear and supplies for your backcountry travels.

Our Team

Experienced Trackers Mentors lead this program. Each day, they help students build deeper connections with each other, their community, and nature.

  • Expertise in mentoring and Trackers skills.
  • Low student-to-guide ratio facilitating personal, team-based learning.
  • Background checked with First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Trained in outdoor safety and the Trackers Earth curriculum.

Our Place

We journey from Trackers HQ to wilderness locations by buses and vans with trained drivers. Our destinations include Trackers' private 351-acre wildlife park, our 100-acre farm and forest, other wilderness sites. When the weather calls for it, we might choose to stay closer to home, learning hands-on folk crafts in our art studios and visiting nearby nature parks.

Mentoring Programs

Guides mentor Apprentices in Trackers skills to develop teamwork, connect to nature, and build independence. Our curriculum is tailored to each age group and adapts creatively to the unique interests of each team:

Grade K-1: Inspiring curiosity through imagination and play in nature.
Grade 2-3: Encouraging fun, hands-on exploration and discovery.
Grades 4-5: Fostering independence and connection to friends and the natural world.
Grades 6-9: Empowering confidence with skills of self-awareness and adaptability.
