Photography & Film Apprenticeship

Photography & Film

Tell stories through the lens of a camera. Develop core principles of digital photography: lighting, composition and more. Create videography projects through storyboarding, production and post-production. Work with editing tools and managing media. Learn with all levels of cameras ranging from SLRs to camera phone photography and filmmaking.

Cameras and equipment are provided by the program.

The Apprenticeship

Apprentices work together as part of a powerful learning team. They connect with like-minded peers while building authentic skills and sharing a deep relationship with nature. This is not just a club, this can be a life-long path of study in traditional crafts.

How it works

Mentoring Weekends Apprentices attend one monthly training day from September to May. They get hands-on experience with expert mentors. See below for class schedule.


September - May
This program runs September to May with optional family events.
9 studio days
One Saturday every month, 9 AM - 4:30 PM. See below for class schedule.
Skills Evenings & Open Archery Range There are also learning opportunities every week. Apprentices and their family get free admission to our Skills Evenings (every Thurs) and our Open Archery Range (every Thurs, Fri, Sat).


Tuition is divided into ten monthly payments after a $50 deposit.

Monthly Payment Plan
$50 deposit, then ten monthly payments of $94 (total $995)
Family Discount
A 10% discount is available for siblings registering together.
Returning Apprentice
Returning Apprentices get a tuition discount based on year of attendance.

We offer limited scholarship awards for those families who may need financial assistance in attending the apprenticeship program. For more information Contact Us.


Transportation is provided. All programs begin at the Trackers Scout Pit - 4617 SE Milwaukie Avenue, Portland, Oregon. Field Days occur at various local greenspaces.

When signing up for Photography Apprenticeship be sure your child can make most of the weekends. Apprenticeships average one weekend a month:
