About Archery at Trackers

One of Trackers' signature skills. Students learn traditional bow technique, safety, and the focused concentration that makes a great archer. Over 8 weeks, students build real form and accuracy—not just a one-day range session.

What Students Learn

Stance, draw, anchor, aim, and release. We cover range safety, equipment care, and the mental discipline behind consistent shooting. By the final session, students are hitting targets with confidence.

Tuesday
Grades 2–5: 3:45–4:45 pm  |  Grades 6–12: 5:00–6:15 pm
Groups are age-separated for appropriate instruction and equipment sizing.

Equipment

All bows, arrows, and safety equipment are provided by Trackers. Instructors size and fit equipment to each student. Students do not need to bring anything special.

$245 for the 8-week session, including all equipment. A non-refundable $55 deposit reserves your spot.

About Ceramics at Trackers

Working with clay is one of the oldest human crafts. Trackers Ceramics connects students to that tradition through hands-on making—pinch pots, coil building, slab work, and more. No prior experience needed.

What Students Make

Each student works through foundational hand-building techniques and completes multiple projects over 8 weeks. Work is fired and finished so students leave with pieces they actually made—not just classroom samples.

Materials

All clay, tools, glazes, and firing are included in the materials fee. Students should wear clothes that can get dirty (clay happens).

About Woodworking at Trackers

Students work with real tools on real projects. Trackers Woodworking teaches hand-tool craft: measuring, marking, sawing, shaping, and joining wood. Making in the traditional sense—slow, deliberate, and satisfying.

What Students Build

Projects vary by age and build across the session. Students can expect to complete at least one finished piece to take home. Instructors guide safe tool use and the problem-solving that comes with working in wood.

All lumber, tools, fasteners, and finishing supplies are included in the materials fee. Students should wear closed-toed shoes.

About Blacksmithing at Trackers

Forge work for the next generation. Students work at a real anvil with hammer and tong, learning to shape hot steel into useful objects. One of the most unique youth after-school programs available anywhere in Portland—and Trackers is making it accessible starting in grade 2.

What Students Make

Students forge their own projects from steel stock: hooks, leaves, bottle openers, fire strikers, and more. Every piece is made by the student's own hands. Instructors guide safety, heat management, and hammer technique throughout.

Safety

Safety is the first lesson. All students receive a safety orientation before approaching the forge. Eye and hand protection is provided. Instructors maintain close supervision at all forge stations at all times.

Projects and forge techniques are scaled to each age group.

Materials

All steel stock, forge time, tools, and safety gear are included. Students should wear natural-fiber clothing (no synthetics near the forge) and closed-toed shoes.
