Gather 'round the fire for real skills, hot cocoa, and new friends! Join the Wilders Guild! Together we build our epic Winter Bonfire, the heart of camp for crafting, cooking, and community. Learn to safely and sustainably harvest firewood from the land, then turn it into flame. Sip cocoa by the fire, bake desserts over coals, craft with your crew, and share stories as the winter woods grow quiet. This is winter at its best.

Find Your Wilders Adventure

Wilders Bonfire is a camp for crafts, adventure, and connection—with friends both new and old. Explore the following skills:

Campfire Crafting Use natural materials to make useful folk crafts beside our forest campfire. Carve, felt, and create with wood and fiber—making practical seasonal items to take home and share with family and friends.

Firecraft & Outdoor Cooking Learn to safely build our winter campfire. Learn about different fire structures for comfort and cooking. Harvest and split wood and cook snacks like flatbread and roasted apples over open flames.

Caretaking for Fire Ecology Discover how people have long used fire to care for the forest. Explore how seasonal burning supports healthy ecosystems, enriches soil, and reduces wildfire risks—even during the colder months.

What You Do

Get your hands dirty, taste the season, and create goods to take home. Every Wilders Bonfire camp includes:

  • Harvest and split wood using hand tools like saws and bladed tools
  • Build and tend cozy winter campfires as part of a team
  • Make fire-cooked snacks like flatbread, cocoa, or roasted apples
  • Carve simple projects using wood and natural materials
  • Learn fire ignition methods: matches, ferro rods, and even fire by friction (Grades 4+)
  • Explore how traditional fire use helps manage healthy forests
  • Play team games that build coordination, creativity, and cooperation outdoors

For Grades 6–8: Bonfire Builders Older campers help create, build, and tend the bonfire itself, plus making fantastic foods and desserts through outdoor cooking.
