Blacksmithing Apprenticeship
Through our apprenticeships, expert Trackers Mentors guide youth and teens in learning at art studios. Our classes are designed for students from beginner to advanced levels. Thanks to our small class sizes, instructors can provide individual attention to each apprentice. Develop the following skills:
Tools & Shop Skills Learn to safely use a wide variety of blacksmith tools in our studio workshop. Develop responsibility and independence by caring for tools and keeping our shop tidy and organized.
Craftsmanship & Form Forge, split, twist, and punch hot metal to create art, crafts, and tools you can take home. Create edged tools such as knives and blades. Delve into physical and material sciences like metallurgy, thermodynamics, and more!
Art & Design Study design in three dimensions. Explore the basics of creating functional and expressive forms. Go beyond the basics to explore more complex forging techniques. Develop your personal style as an artisan.
Choose Your Program
We offer four blacksmithing apprenticeship options. Choose from the schedule below.
OPTION 1 - Grade 5-12 Blacksmith Master the use of blacksmith tools in our workshop. Develop responsibility, independence, and shop skills.
OPTION 2 - Grade 6-12 Advanced Blacksmith Advance to master-level blacksmithing for returning and experienced students. Prereq: Blacksmith Apprenticeship
OPTION 3 - Grade 6-12 Blades (Knifemaking) Craft edged tools like knives and axes in our specialized program.
OPTION 4 - Grade 7-12 Metal Maker Dive into advanced techniques and explore welding, smelting, and casting. Prereq: Blacksmith Apprenticeship

Our Team
Our mentoring team includes our top Trackers staff featuring:
- Expertise in mentoring and Trackers skills.
- Low student-to-guide ratio facilitating personal, team-based learning.
- Background checked with First Aid & CPR certification.
- Trained in program safety and the Trackers Earth curriculum.
Our Place
Our Studio Apprenticeships take place at our Trackers Art Studios where apprentices can explore hands-on arts and crafts. Our locations feature ceramics, photography, woodworking, and blacksmithing studios.
How It Works
Our Blacksmithing Apprenticeship is a school-year program that teaches Trackers Skills one weekend each month from Fall to Spring.
Studio Days: 9 total + Graduation Day
For Studio Apprenticeships you can choose from a Morning or Afternoon classes.
Morning 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Afternoon 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM
For flexibility, we provide several scheduling options—see below for dates.
Tuition
Choose your $55 deposit (non-refundable) to reserve your spot. The remaining tuition is divided into ten monthly payments of $84 beginning August 31. We follow-up after you register to create a payment plan.
Sibling Discount: Families enrolling two or more children receive a 5% discount on all monthly payments.
